Do you know the real history that hides behind you swimsuit?
Una historia que nos acompaña con cada cambio de bañador y que nos
sorprende con anécdotas curiosas. El traje de baño cuenta con sus primeras
reseñas en la época de Carlo Magno, pero no sería hasta el siglo XVII cuando
el Rey Jorge III comenzaría a frecuentar las playas británicas, haciendo de los
baños en el mar una práctica habitual, y con ello la aparición formal del
bañador.
History that accompains us with every Swimsuit change and which suprises us with
curious anecdotes. The swimsuit has its first steps in Carlo Magno’s times.
However, we didn’t see it in the beach until XVII Century, when Jorge III King
began to visit the British beaches. In this moment, baths into the beach turned
an habitual practice and the swimsuit appeared formally in our lifes.
En 1890 aparece el primer traje de baño, en el que podíamos llegar a contar
¡hasta 6 piezas!, incluidos los calcetines para el momento
"chapuzón". Pasarían 25 años hasta la llegada del siguiente bañador,
el cual nos deja sorprendidos al descubrir los 3 kilos de peso que podía llegar
a alcanzar tras mojarse, al estar confeccionado en lana.
The
first swimsuit appeared in 1890, which we could have almost six pieces of
clothes, including socks for the "dip" moment. The next swimsuit came
25 years later, which surprises us because it could weigh 3 kg wetted. The
reason is that swimsuits were done with wool. It is increible, isn’t it?
Pero como todo, hay una actuación que desencadena el principio del cambio,
y en este caso la flexibilización de las normas que regulaban el traje de baño
femenino vendría por el arresto de Annette Kellerman, la creadora de la natación
sincronizada. Consideraron inapropiado su bañador por estar hecho de una sola
pieza.
There
is always a moment that comes to a change. In this case, the rules about the
feminine swimsuit were modificated because Annette Kellerman, who created the
synchronized swimming, was arrested by the police; because she wore a swimcase
done of one piece.

No sería hasta después de la 2ª Guerra Mundial cuando aparecería el
traje de baño de 2 piezas, el bikini, de la mano del modisto Jacques Helm y el ingeniero
Louis Reard. Estaba claro el objetivo del nuevo bañador, ya que su nombre surge
por la isla del Pacífico, en la que se hicieron pruebas nucleares. Una anécdota
curiosa del bikini la encontramos en su presentación, ya que no encontraron modelos dispuestas a
lucir el nuevo bañador. Sería Michelle Bernadini, una vedette del casino de París, la encargada de presentarlo al mundo.
The swimsuit with two pieces, the bikini, appeared after the second World
War by Jacques Helm and Louis Reard. His name was for a Pacific ocean's island,
in which were done nuclear tests. They had clear the aim of their new swimsuit.
We meet a curious anecdotes when the bikini was to presentation. They couldn’t
meet models because nobody wanted to wear it, therefore they chose Michelle
Bernadini, a “vedette”from the casino of Paris.

Las actrices Brigitte Bardot y Úrsula Andress convertirían al bikini
en el protagonista de las playas, siendo las primeras en lucirlo.
The bikini have been the protagonist on beaches since the actress, Brigitte
Bardot and Úrsula Andress were the first in wearing a bikini.

La gran pantalla capultaría su éxito, ¿Quién no recuerda el bikini de Úrsula
Andress en Agente 007 contra el Dr. Noo o el el Rachel Welch en Hace un Millón
de años?. Muchos han sido los que han apoyado al bikini, famosas, actrices, y
cantantes como Brian Hyland su canción Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka
Dot Bikini, que animaba a los jóvenes a vestir este traje de baño.

Welch’s bikini in “One Million
Years B.C”? Many people had supported the first steps of bikini, actress or
singers, like Brian Hyland his song Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot
Bikini, which encouraged the american young to dress bikini.
